I Had Every Right to be Scared

White men in this country showed they don’t care about women, Black people, BIPOC, queer people, etc.

Additionally, a majority of white women showed they don’t give a fuck either and will vote against their selves.

For note, this white woman (me) did NOT vote for that monster of a man.

We had every right to be scared.

If this result stands, I am scared for our future.

I have already begun looking at political asylum, or just leaving the country in general. I don’t want to raise my son in a country that will try to tell him he’s superior solely because of his skin and genitals, in a country that wants to persuade him to believe women are property.

They’ve openly come out now and said that project 2025 is their fucking playbook. The incels in their midst have posted saying out loud that it’s our bodies, but their choice, and that we are property.

Per the ACLU who so graciously summarized it, here are the key points that have me beyond fucking worried:

Gutting Abortion Access

Severely limiting abortion access nationwide by reversing the FDA’s approval of mifepristone, a drug used in medication abortion, and reviving a 19th century law, the Comstock Act, to ban any abortion medications, equipment, or materials from being sent through the U.S. Postal Service.

Mass Deportations

Targeting immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids, ending birthright citizenship, separating families, and dismantling our nation’s asylum system.

Abusing Warrantless Surveillance

Exploiting the executive branch’s vast and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans’ lives with warrantless surveillance of our data.

Severely Limiting Voting Access

Abusing executive power to interfere in our elections by criminalizing the voting process and damaging fair representation.

Censoring Critical Discussions in Classrooms

Censoring academic discussions about race, gender, and systemic oppression, in violation of the First Amendment, and promising to cut federal funding for schools with curricula that touch on these subjects.

Rolling Back Trans Rights

Weaponizing federal law to require states and private actors to discriminate against transgender people by threatening to sue schools that protect the rights of trans students or telling hospitals that they would lose their Medicaid funding if they provide gender-affirming medical care to trans adolescents.

It’s scary times here. Please know you’re not alone. We will figure this out, even if that means leaving.

To everyone person who voted for love, for democracy, for women, for humans, and for equality, thank you.

What is your plan? Fight or flight?
